Bike-Inspired Beer : PDX Cascadian Dark Ale

Introducing PDX Cascadian Dark Ale, brewed to pair with INDUSTRY x Ti Cycles’ yet-to-be-revealed bike design and the city that inspired it.

Deschutes brewer, Matt Hahn’s inspiration:   “Located in the quirky epicenter of beer and bikes, we had to brew a Cascadian Dark Ale. It’s a style other parts of the country call a Black IPA or American Black Ale, but Portlanders firmly plant their stake in the ground as the founders of this style and demanded a style name all their own. This isn’t your typical Cascadian Dark Ale, either. Not that there’s anything typical about any CDA but this one is brewed with cedar, comes in at an everyday drinking 5% ABV and packs a big NW hop punch at 60 IBUs.”

INDUSTRY + Ti Cycles’ inspiration:  “We set out with the vision of inspiring everyday cycling. We took a look at what motivates a person to cycle – the freedom of two wheels, the joy of self-propelled movement, the desire to explore the city from a different perspective. We are focused on the experience a bike can deliver, rather than simply seeing the bike as a stand-alone object. With that in mind, our design considers gesture as the visual expression of form and function, zero distractions as we remove what is unnecessary and amplify what is, and integrated performance via crafted features, relevant materials, and amazing functionality.”
