• Integrated anti-theft, locking center-stand disables mobility and prevents tipping over when parked.

• Generator hub powers a bright light source capable of remaining lit after the bike has been stopped.
• Low center of gravity, front loading cargo design keeps cargo visible while riding.
• Three dimensionally curved wooden fenders constructed from 4 layers of laser-cut, paper-backed veneer reinforced with fiberglass.
• Large cargo capacity.

ABOUT THE TEAM

The MFA program in Furniture Design at Rhode Island School of Design maintains an ideal balance between sculpture and industrial design. Having a high standard for design and craftsmanship, students build functional works of art. A varied approach in the curriculum encourages and enables a rich environment for exploring new knowledge and developing new concepts.
Team captain Ryan Murray has been taking things apart and putting them back together for as long as he can remember. Once he started riding bikes, it was only natural that he spent his spare time in the garage modifying and building bikes.

The hardware store is two blocks from Ryan’s house, so his utility-bike dream is to have a bike that can carry a half sheet of plywood.
Chris Bull of Circle A Cycles is watching over Ryan’s shoulder on this project, making sure the bike is straight.
